Philadelphia Sailing Club offers a Sailing Skills Development course, a very inexpensive one day program to teach sailing fundamentals to those new to sailing or those who needed a refresher. Topics covered included sail theory, trimming sails, tacking & gybing, chart reading, basic knots and crew responsibilites and safety.

This class will be repeated based on demand. The class will be scheduled shortly before a Spring (or Fall) Skills weekend so those attending the Sailing Skills Development class will shortly thereafter have the opportunity to get on-boat, on-the-water experience in the techniques taught in the class.

You do not need to be a member to attend the class but you must be a PSC member to sign up for a Skills weekend trip. These are very popular trips - so join PSC, enroll in the Sailing Skills Development course and sign up for a Skills weekend. You will quickly become a real sailor.
